ADD – Submersible inline bus adapter

Description

How to combine different instruments on one data cable? Instruments usually do not have address stacks implemented.

The ADD (Addresser unit) provides addresses for individual oceanographic instruments on a serial interface. One single data cable will handle data from over 50 units (instruments) connected to RS485 data bus. Instrument communication can be handled via Rs232, 485, or 422 (half and duplex mode). The bus communication speed is 115.2 Kb/s.

To set up an Addresser network a configuration GUI comes with the units. Individual instrument drivers and command tools will be programmed on each individual Addresser unit using the GU I. It also provides a bench test feature to check the functions before installation.

For automatic monitoring tasks ARGUS provides codes to adapt a CR1000 (Campbell) data logger. This data logger is easy to program and is accepted world wide. The logger program automatically sets clocks on individual instruments, starts measurements and retrieves data and stores it on the logger memory. A telemetry system sends the data to the data server.

The Addresser will also provide power (12V) for the instruments connected or to charge battery packs. The Addressers can be combined with the DPS for full safety. The bus cable will be decoupled machanically and galvanically from the data buoy.
